  1. We visited the Green Man last night for a familily Christmas Dinner (8 Adults 4 Children). The service was extremely slow, taking over 2 hours to complete the meal for Mains and a Sweet. 2 Orders for the Children were left off the Order, and the Chicked Ordered was a half chicken with trimmings, and what we received were pieces of Leg & Wings, and no stuffing. It took 3 requests to get jugs of water served. It transpired that there was only 1 Chef on, since two others had phoned in ill. Huge question, why is ther no contingency, and why were we not informed of this when we arrived, and why was it not possible to serve the children first. A gesture would have been to serve complimentary drinks when we arrived, and to make us all know that there would be a delay. It is such a shame since there is such potential,

  2. We used to go to the green man a few years ago and went again in February for a family gathering. It was adequate food, though very pricey, especially for the children’s menu so we decided not to go again. However, it is very near to my elderly parents place and so it was booked again. Such a mistake. On arrival we were seated to be told the menu was limited as the chef was changing the menu and didn’t have everything in. We ordered three roasts, including one veggie, a kids meal and a starter. We waited 45 minutes after ordering. The meat was tough, carrots shrivelled and the roast potatoes were hard. The veggie roast potatoes were missed off entirely. My daughter ordered warm goats cheese from the starter menu which turned up cold – really cold like not long out of the freezer. We queried it and was told that was how it was supposed to be and because it was my mistake Thinking it was warm, we had to pay for it and would be charged for a replacement. Checking the menu again at home, we found that this was entirely wrong and we were right. We complained about the food and was initially offered free desserts and coffee. The waiter then returned to say that the chef had said he had a limited number of desserts and didn’t want to give them away so we would have to pay. We were eventually offered 20% off and we left without pudding or coffee. The bill was still more than £50 with that reduction and there was no starters or alcohol, and one children’s meal. Even then, we had to pay by cash because the card readers weren’t working. Generally, it was a real waste of money and time – beyond disappointing.
