The Daniel Defoe stands in the middle of Stoke Newington Church Street and serves the local community as a Traditional Public House.

The pub itself has seen many changes over the years and has had quite a few name changes. It made its last change in 1999 when it changed from Steptoe’s which was considered then as more of a wine bar. The pub was also refurbished in 2011 and operates now as one of only a few ‘Traditional’ style pubs left in the area and as such offers a truly unique experience to locals and visitors alike.

We have a range of Cask Ales always kept in tip top condition, a choice of premium lagers & ciders, wines from around the world, a selection of Malt Whiskies probably rarely seen outside the Highlands of Scotland and of course our food menu which is served daily and caters for all.

So if you are just ‘popping in for a pint’, meeting up with friends or just want to relax in our lovely and spacious beer garden you can be sure of a warm welcome and a memorable visit to The Daniel Defoe.
