The inn was once owned by Lord Mostyn, who had a racehorse named Piccadilly. The horse won a race on the old Holywell Racecourse near Babell and, in recognition of the win, Lord Mostyn gave the inn to his jockey, leading to the pub’s present name.
The restaurant, which prides itself on “great, honest, locally sourced and freshly prepared food”, was taken over by new management last year.
Since then, the inn has been recognised as one of the best in the area by CAMRA after it included the tavern in the 2016 Good Pub Guide.
It also received a Certificate of Excellence by Trip Advisor earlier this year for its consistent high ratings from travellers.
On Sundays, they offer a “spectacular Sunday roast” which starts from £10.95 per person. The menu varies each week but normally includes roast topside of beef, roast turkey and a leg of lamb.
