Originally built on the old packhorse route between Bingley and Ilkley, Dick Hudsons began life in an old farmhouse as an inn called The Plough Boy. When Eldwick Road closed, the business was moved to its present site, then called Highgate Farm. Thomas Hudson took over the inn in 1809, but it was during the tenure of his son, Dick Hudson between 1850-1878 that the pub became renowned for it’s food and hospitality.
One of the oldest, best known pubs in Yorkshire, this rather grand, ivy clad inn was originally built on the old packhorse route between Bingley and Ilkley and today enjoys spectacular views over Baildon Moor.
The Sunday roast dinner is a Great British pub-food tradition Dick Hudsons wholeheartedly honour – and as a country pub, it’s our duty to offer the fine folk of Bingley Moor a fitting feast every weekend.
Tuck into Sundays, Vintage style
Sundays at your favourite Vintage are the perfect occasion to gather together your loved ones. We serve a minimum of two of the following hand-carved meats plus a vegetarian option, as always with crispy roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and lashings of gravy…
- Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding
- Roast turkey with stuffing
- Herb crusted loin of sweet-cured pork (sourced from one of the only specialist bacon and gammon curers in the UK still using traditional methods)
- Carrot and nut roast
To wash it all down, we recommend one of our fine wines or seasonal ask ales. Roast beef and real ale – now there’s a rare Sunday pairing.
Make your own traditions
Eating out at your local pub on Sunday isn’t just about the traditional roast. For example, we’ve got braised pork belly and lamb shank for those who prefer a twist on a classic.
At Dick Hudsons, our freshly roasted Sunday dinners are very popular and whilst we try to serve them until 5pm, once they are gone that’s it until next Sunday! Book a table now to enjoy your Sunday roast with family and friends.
