The inn is named after Harsthead Pike, the monument situated at the beacon point of the area. It is possible to see the counties of Cheshire Lancashire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire from the Pike. There has been a building on the hill for centuries. The present tower built in 1863, is the third on the site, as previous towers have collapsed.
On the edge of the Peak District, this impressive inn at Mossley offers great walking and splendid views. Originally a farmhouse built in the early 1800s (recently restored) it is named after the Hartshead Pike monument.
The Sunday roast dinner is a Great British pub-food tradition The Hartshead wholeheartedly honour – and as a country pub, it’s our duty to offer the fine folk of Ashton-under-Lyne a fitting feast every weekend.
Tuck into Sundays, Vintage style
Sundays at your favourite Vintage are the perfect occasion to gather together your loved ones. We serve a minimum of two of the following hand-carved meats plus a vegetarian option, as always with crispy roast potatoes, fresh vegetables and lashings of gravy…

- Herb crusted loin of sweet-cured pork (sourced from one of the only specialist bacon and gammon curers in the UK still using traditional methods)
